Botanical Name:

Crassula 'Dorothy'

Plant Category:
Succulent

Plant/Product Description:
Crassula 'Dorothy' is a captivating miniature succulent resulting from the hybridization of Crassula susannae and Crassula deceptor. This slow-growing cultivar forms dense rosettes of knobbly green leaves, each rosette measuring up to 0.9 inches (2.2 cm) in diameter. Over time, these rosettes clump together, creating a compact, mound-like appearance. In late fall and occasionally in spring, each rosette produces a cluster of small, star-shaped white or pale yellow flowers on slender stalks, adding a delicate touch to its overall form.

Plant Care Notes:

  • Sunlight: Prefers full sun but can tolerate bright, indirect light. Full sun enhances the color and vibrancy of the leaves.

  • Watering: Water thoroughly when the soil is dry to the touch. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings to prevent root rot.

  • Soil: Requires a well-draining cactus or succulent mix with added perlite or pumice for optimal drainage.

  • Temperature: Thrives in temperatures between 70°F and 85°F (21°C to 29°C). It is not frost-tolerant and should be protected from freezing temperatures.

  • Propagation: Easily propagated by stem or leaf cuttings. Allow the cut ends to callous before replanting in well-draining soil.

  • Pests: Generally pest-resistant but may occasionally attract mealybugs or aphids. Regular inspections help maintain plant health.

Toxicity:
Crassula 'Dorothy' is non-toxic to humans and pets, making it a safe addition to homes and gardens.
