Botanical Name:
Kalanchoe millotii
Common Names:
Millot’s Kalanchoe
Plant Category:
Succulent
Plant/Product Description:
Kalanchoe millotii, also known as Millot’s Kalanchoe, is a unique, rosette-forming succulent with narrow, lance-shaped leaves that have a striking, silvery-gray appearance. The leaves are covered in fine, soft hairs that give the plant a fuzzy texture, enhancing its visual interest. Kalanchoe millotii produces small, bell-shaped flowers in shades of orange or yellow, adding a pop of color in the spring. Its compact size and striking foliage make it a great choice for containers, succulent arrangements, or small garden beds.
Plant Care Notes:
- Sunlight: Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate a few hours of direct sun. Too much direct sunlight can scorch the leaves.
- Watering: Water thoroughly when the soil is dry to the touch. Allow the soil to dry completely between waterings to prevent root rot.
- Soil: Requires well-draining succulent mix with added perlite or pumice for optimal drainage.
- Temperature: Thrives in temperatures between 70°F and 85°F (21°C to 29°C). Not frost-tolerant and should be protected from freezing temperatures.
- Dormancy: Kalanchoe millotii is dormant in the summer, requiring minimal water during this period.
- Propagation: Can be propagated by leaf or stem cuttings.
- Pests: Generally pest-resistant but may occasionally attract mealybugs or aphids.
Toxicity:
Kalanchoe millotii is toxic to pets if ingested, so care should be taken to keep it out of reach of animals.
