Botanical Name:
Pachyveria orpet
Common Names:
None specified
Plant Category:
Succulent
Plant/Product Description:
Pachyveria orpet is a hybrid succulent known for its tightly formed rosettes of fleshy, spoon-shaped leaves. The leaves are usually a bluish-green color, sometimes tinged with pink or purple, especially when exposed to stress or cooler temperatures. This plant is ideal for succulent arrangements or as a small feature plant in containers. In the spring, Pachyveria orpet produces small, bell-shaped flowers that add additional color to its already striking foliage.
Plant Care Notes:
- Sunlight: Prefers bright, indirect light. Can tolerate a few hours of direct sun but too much direct sunlight may cause sunburn.
- Watering: Water thoroughly when the soil is dry to the touch. Allow the soil to dry completely between waterings to avoid root rot.
- Soil: Requires a well-draining succulent mix or cactus mix with added perlite or pumice for optimal drainage.
- Temperature: Thrives in temperatures between 70°F and 85°F (21°C to 29°C). Not frost-tolerant and should be protected from freezing temperatures.
- Dormancy: Pachyveria orpet is dormant in the winter, requiring minimal water during this period.
- Propagation: Can be propagated by leaf cuttings or offsets.
- Pests: Generally pest-resistant but may occasionally attract mealybugs or aphids.
Toxicity:
Pachyveria orpet is non-toxic to humans and pets, making it a safe addition to homes and gardens.
