Cactus
Plant/Product Description:
Rhipsalis caccifera, commonly known as Mistletoe Cactus, is a unique, epiphytic cactus that features long, thin, green stems that resemble mistletoe. It is native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America and thrives in bright, indirect light, making it perfect for indoor environments. This cactus produces small, white or pinkish flowers, followed by tiny, edible berries. Mistletoe Cactus is an excellent choice for hanging baskets or as part of a low-maintenance succulent arrangement.
Plant Care Notes:
- Sunlight: Prefers bright, indirect light. Can tolerate some direct sunlight but too much may cause the plant to burn.
- Watering: Water thoroughly when the soil is dry to the touch. Allow the soil to dry completely between waterings to avoid root rot.
- Soil: Requires well-draining cactus mix or succulent mix with added perlite or pumice for optimal drainage.
- Temperature: Thrives in temperatures between 70°F and 85°F (21°C to 29°C). Not frost-tolerant and should be protected from freezing temperatures.
- Dormancy: Rhipsalis caccifera is dormant in the winter, requiring minimal water during this period.
- Propagation: Can be propagated by cuttings.
- Pests: Generally pest-resistant but may occasionally attract mealybugs or aphids.
Toxicity:
Rhipsalis caccifera is non-toxic to humans and pets, making it a safe addition to homes and gardens.
