Succulent
Plant/Product Description:
Senecio serpens, also known as Blue Chalk Sticks, is a hardy, low-growing succulent with thick, blue-gray, cylindrical leaves that resemble sticks of chalk. The plant forms a dense, bushy growth and is perfect for ground cover or as part of a succulent arrangement. Blue Chalk Sticks produces small, daisy-like yellow flowers during the summer, adding a touch of brightness to its otherwise blue-gray foliage.
Plant Care Notes:
- Sunlight: Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate a few hours of direct sunlight. Full sun will help the plant grow more vigorously.
- Watering: Water thoroughly when the soil is dry to the touch. Allow the soil to dry completely between waterings to prevent root rot.
- Soil: Requires well-draining succulent mix with added perlite or pumice for optimal drainage.
- Temperature: Thrives in temperatures between 70°F and 85°F (21°C to 29°C). Not frost-tolerant and should be protected from freezing temperatures.
- Dormancy: Senecio serpens is dormant in the winter, requiring minimal water during this period.
- Propagation: Can be propagated by stem cuttings or leaves.
- Pests: Generally pest-resistant but may occasionally attract mealybugs or aphids.
Toxicity:
Senecio serpens is toxic if ingested and should be kept out of reach of children and pets.
